Valley View Kennels was founded in 1955 by the late Ray and Edith Curry. They were dedicated to everything dogs. They had a passion for certain breeds, mainly boxers. The original name of the kennels was named after his favorite boxer: Toughie. Toughie's Valley View Kennels has been serving the area for over half a century.
The new owners, Adrienne and Matthew Powers, are dedicated to carrying on this tradition and making it into what Mr. Curry always wanted: a place where you can learn more about your pet and receive service that is above and beyond just a regular kennel stay.
What makes us stand out from other facilities is giving pet owners peace of mind. We live on site, year around. It's like bringing your dog to a neighbor's home while you can tend to your personal life situations or a much-needed vacation without the stress of not knowing how your pet is doing. We encourage our customers to come in for a tour and see how we operate to prove how attentive we will be while their pet is here.
We are entirely dedicated to educating owners about their dog's health. Please do not take offense to anything that we may recommend. We tend to be up front and honest, and sometimes this takes people by surprise. We are here to help the health of your dog, and we have found that most owners are mis-informed about their pets needs.
We're NOT just boarding either! You'll see we have an excellent grooming and bathing area capable of servicing many pets at once.
The Owners:
Adrienne Powers is a certified Animal Behavioral Therapist and Obedience Instructor. She's certified through ABCNY (The Animal Behavioral Center of New York, located in Queensborough, NYC). ABCNY's owner/director is one of the top instructors in the country for dog behavior and obedience training. They work with major pet stores for developing their training programs.
Adrienne also has an Associates Degree in Equine Industries from the University of Massachusetts - Amherst. And no, we don't board horses, SORRY!
Matt Powers is the Public Relations, dog aficionado and property manager for the facility with a Bachelors in Sociology and Criminal Justice from the University of Massachusetts - Amherst.
